Christmas is no longer magical… but was it ever supposed to be “magical” in the first place? For me, 2020 has been the year of reflection and discernment. I’d like to say it was that way for everyone, but honestly, I think many were more concerned with keeping others “in line” and speaking for others […]

I first met this beautiful family for their maternity portraits. Candace was glowing with their baby girl. I still remember their session like it was yesterday, so when I got news that Emmaline was born sleeping, my heart broke. Candace reached out to me after and told me she was so happy to have those […]

We photographed Erin, of Erin Ashley Design, in studio and decided to keep it a very chic, simple look with whites and creams while adding a slight Parisian flare by incorporating the straw hat and button dress. I always love focusing in on relationships and family dynamics between family members while incorporating family passions, like […]

Well… hello 2020?!? I think we’re all asking ourselves what happened and reevaluating life while bracing ourselves for the next plot twist. We started 2020 with a meeting with our builder and the intent of getting moved to South Dakota by spring 2020. And we all know what happened… Like many, our plans got delayed. […]

One of my favorite small shops, Little Honey Bee & CO specializes Bamboo and Cotton Swaddle Blankets. My favorite part about this little shop is that they donate a portion of their sales to pro-life organizations. Their swaddles are huge and perfect for transitioning from swaddling baby to summer blankets, picnic blankets and backdrops for […]

Discovering Kids Ride Shotgun is a must for any active family. Beck loves riding shotgun on his dad’s mountain bike. His face is always pure joy and you can hear him yelling “faster” 100% of the time. And it’s quite the workout for my husband.

I posted a fun update about Beck on my social media and I received sooo many questions about the detox we’re doing, because his progress has been amazing! I’ll first share the post and then below, post our routine. I do want to remind everyone that we did see a doctor and he has a […]

If you can’t tell, I have an obsession with neutral color pallets as off lately and I can’t tell you how much I love these portraits because of it. This little mister is one of the cutest babes I’ve ever photographed and I can’t get enough of his little overalls. Mama’s Zara dress was a […]

why a "film" look?
I have always loved the film medium - the softness, the colors and the film grain. It's a classic, timeless look that will never go out of style. There's a certain richness in the blacks that I admire while the skin-tones tend to have a soft, creamy look. You can expect your images to have these qualities as well.
WHAT IF IT RAINS?
If the weather looks like it'll be less than ideal conditions, we can either run with it, re-schedule or, if we were planning to photograph outdoors, see if we can photograph in-doors or in-studio.
what session is best for us?
I offer three different collections based on timing, 30, 60 or 120 minutes. While 30 minutes is perfect for a family wanting to do a quick update, 60 minutes is ideal for families with more than one child. Newborn sessions require 60-120 minutes so that we have time for baby details, family portraits and one-on-one's with each sibling and parent. For boudoir portraits, I recommend 60 or 120 minutes however, we can also create beautiful portraits with one outfit in 30 minutes.
how do we plan our session?
The planning stages of our session starts with picking a location. It's the most important decision in creating the overall look to your images. In-studio, indoors at your home or a hotel room (as long as there is ample natural window light) and outdoor locations all have unique qualities. I prefer to pick spots with neutral backgrounds that help keep the focus on my subjects.
Once we've decided on location, we then talk about outfits, props and hair and makeup.
